Tabletop game Golden Axe

This tabletop game is a our student project created as part of our Game Design course. It's something we worked on purely for a learning experience, not for mass production. Our inspiration came from the legendary Golden Axe digital game, a classic that has left a lasting impression on many of us. The game was developed by our team, consisting of Anna Hilsber,  Max Lev and Pavel Matsik, with me taking on the role of the Systems Game Designer. We’re proud of what we’ve built, and this project represents our passion and creativity in game design.

This is a strategic tabletop game where players use cards to battle enemies and dodge attacks. As in the original Golden Axe, we’ve implemented random monster generation, allowing enemies to appear anywhere on the map. This is facilitated by dice rolls and a coordinate grid, ensuring a dynamic and unpredictable gameplay experience. Additionally, we’ve introduced different character attributes to ensure varied gameplay dynamics, offering players a fresh experience with each game. These unique character abilities and strengths add depth to the strategy, making every game feel different and more engaging.

P.S.

The rights to the original Golden Axe game belong to Sega, and we want to make it clear that we don’t claim any ownership of the intellectual property. We simply drew inspiration from it to bring our own vision to life. And we glad that we had this opportunity, we’ve had the chance to revisit this wonderful game and share it with others, reminding ourselves of its greatness.
